Our staff at Helpful Home Care have over 10 year’s experience working with individuals and the families of those living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

We have a real understanding of the needs of people and their family affected by these conditions. Our highly trained staff are aware about the different stages and types of the condition and they are experienced in helping people and their families cope with the challenges that dementia care brings about on a daily basis. The impact of dementia on an individual varies considerably and this is why is so important that each service user we work with receives a highly professional service with kindness and respect.

The care we provide can be of a practical nature, helping with getting up, washing or dressing or perhaps help with meals, laundry or ironing. But it may also be about going out to the shops, or a walk in the park or a visit to relatives or friends. We have also found that many of our service users enjoy reminiscence work or a familiar face to visit for social stimulation. We work closely with families and individuals to ensure that we have a real understanding of the wishes, likes and dislikes of the person so that support provided is meaningful to them and fits around what is familiar to them. This is particularly important with routines and habits to preserve these to enable the individual to remain functioning happily and safely in an environment most familiar to them.

A service for the family carers

Many people with dementia are looked after on a day to day basis by a spouse or other family member. But caring relatives need a break from time to time and this is where are ‘respite support service’ can help. On an arranged day we will come and take over the role – allowing the family member time to themselves.

Once you have considered the type of support you need call us and a member of our staff will be able to discuss your individual requirements in more detail.
